I found Homestead Elementary through a local Facebook group while searching for other options for my kiddo. Public school wasn’t working, and things were getting worse. It took her a little while to get used to the routine, but once she did, she really opened up. Instead of dreading school, she comes home excited to teach me what she learned. She had fallen so far behind that she was working at a kindergarten level with most things as a “2nd grader”, and within one year she had nearly caught up to grade level. Each student has their own curriculum that meets them where they’re at, and it made all the difference for her.

Best of all for our family is the faith aspect of the school. Daily worship and Bible study have been a major blessing, and it even helped us get back into saying our daily family prayers together. Mr. and Mrs. Byrd are some of the kindest folks out there, not to mention amazing teachers! We’re so blessed to have found Homestead Elementary and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a better education and more faith in their kiddo’s life.

Homestead Elementary has been such a blessing for our family. Our child needed the smaller environment of the schoolhouse. It wasn’t something I thought that existed. When I called on God for an answer, I found them. I searched online one day and they popped up. Within our first meeting we knew it was the right fit. It was a huge relief to find a learning environment that fit our values and was what our child needed.

Mrs. Byrd is loving, caring, and the warmest person you’ll ever meet. Mr. Byrd has a knack for connecting with the kids. The whole Byrd family is welcoming and takes great care of the Homestead kids like their family. They truly work alongside you and your child nurturing their learning experience. They teach for the mind, heart, and soul.

We absolutely love Homestead Elementary! It’s a small, welcoming where each child gets individual attention in a caring environment. We really appreciate the small class sizes, shorter school days, and strong Christian values. The teachers genuinely care about their students, and it feels like a close-knit community. We started at Homestead Elementary in the fall of 2025, and we are so thankful we found it!

After finally taking a tour of the schoolhouse, we decided to take the leap—and it has truly been one of the best decisions we’ve made for our kids.

Our children absolutely LOVE going to Homestead Elementary. We have a 1st grader, 2nd grader, and 5th grader, and all three of them are doing fantastic. We love having all three of our kids at the same place. We love that the older kids have the opportunity to be positive role models for the younger ones, and that there is such a strong sense of community throughout.

The teachers are warm, loving, professional, and genuinely care about every child. With the small class sizes, our kids are known, noticed, encouraged, and loved throughout their entire day. We have seen their confidence grow so much, and it’s been amazing to watch them thrive both academically and personally.

And the schoolhouse itself is beautiful. It is so welcoming and inviting, and you can truly feel the care that goes into making it a special place for the kids.

Yes, Homestead is an investment, but we truly believe investing in our children’s education is one of the best investments we can make. We are so grateful we took the time to pray about it, tour the school, and ultimately make the decision to join the Homestead family.

We have been so grateful for our daughter’s experience at Homestead Elementary. She is going into her third year and is truly thriving—academically, socially, and spiritually. I am pleased to say that Mrs Byrd’s teaching approaches consistently reflect a powerful understanding of research on best practices for the preadolescent stages. Mrs Byrd is very skillful at what she does, and communicates her goals to students and parents. She takes into account student learning styles, social emotional well being, and spiritual and academic growth when leading young academic minds. She creates an excellent learning environment for her students and demonstrates genuine care and respect for all.

Mrs Byrd conveys deep enthusiasm for learning and creates a culture that is very much like a family in her classroom. She brings grace and trust into her room, and students and parents alike consistently look to her as a source of inspiration. Her greatest strength is her intentionality in discipling others. Mrs. Byrd naturally connects with parents and children. She is loved by all. She is a gifted speaker and a facilitator of student transformation. She is very committed to excellence in everything that she does, and is dependable under great pressure, always putting her children and her families first.

Everyone who knows Mrs Byrd would say that she knows God’s love, and she walks where God leads her. Mrs Byrd is an amazing teacher and friend, her character is pure love, and she wants that love for every single person. I personally cannot put into words the direct impact Mrs Byrd has had on my life and my daughter’s life. I cannot imagine the pain and the emotional mess I would be in if Sheila didn’t guide me through a turbulent time in my life. I get teary eyed just thinking about it. I am blessed and thankful for the impact she has had on me, and the difference she has made in my daughter’s life.

Mrs Byrd’s approach to loving her students and others has helped me become a better parent. She greets life with a smile and a very positive attitude. She shows others how important they are, and how worthy they are to be cared for and loved. She speaks to parents and to children in such a way that they never feel guilty, judged, or defeated. Mrs Byrd takes every situation and turns it into a teachable moment. She wraps her arms around her families, giving her all to her students. Her desire is to deeply know people so she can serve them. I have personally seen how she uses her love to tenderly teach her students. There is no doubt in my mind that she brings the perfect balance of grace and guidance together to teach each of her students.
